Who We Are
The Allison Rose Foundation (ARF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting food allergy families through education, awareness, research and advocacy. By rallying medical experts, educators, policymakers, and community members, we ensure that individuals with severe allergies, and without, receive the critical knowledge, resources and support needed to stay safe.
Our Inspiration
Founded in memory of Allison “Ally” Rose Suhy, ARF honors the bright spirit of a daughter, sister and friend who was taken too soon by a fatal anaphylactic reaction during her freshman year of college. Diagnosed with a severe nut allergy as a toddler, Ally lived a full and vibrant life thanks to strong family support and a close-knit community. But leaving her familiar safety net for college revealed just how vital continued food allergy education and preparedness are for young adults—and for everyone around them.
Our Work
We believe that widespread understanding of food allergies can save lives. Through physician-developed curriculums, ARF delivers virtual and in-person training to students, parents, faculty and businesses. We also advocate for stronger policies—like the Allison Rose Act—that equip schools and universities with lifesaving epinephrine and encourage critical allergy education. By forging partnerships with medical professionals, we strive to dispel misinformation around food allergies and empower communities to recognize and respond to anaphylaxis with confidence.
Our Impact
Education & Training: ARF’s certified firefighter/paramedic/medical professional instructors have brought our evidence-based programs to schools, universities, camps, and workplaces, reaching thousands of individuals.
- Legislative Advocacy: The Allison Rose Act (House Bill 231) supports training for staff and students in Ohio schools, ensuring they’re prepared to address allergic reactions.
- Resources & Support: We offer checklists for college-bound students, online medical ID tutorials, and direct guidance for families navigating the complexities of severe allergies.
Why It Matters
Food allergies affect millions of Americans, and reactions can escalate from mild to life-threatening within minutes. Many families, schools and communities remain underprepared for the realities of anaphylaxis. At ARF, we work tirelessly to close that knowledge gap. By uniting policy change, clinical insights and public awareness, we aim to prevent heartbreak and champion better outcomes for everyone living with food allergies.
